In class 12 chemistry we have to study about Chemical Kinetics which comes under General and Physical Chemistry. Students can easily study about Rate law and its expressions, Rate constant and its unit and significance, Order and molecularity, Integrated rate equation for zero and first order reaction, Half-life of zero and first order reactions, Collision theory, concept of activation energy and activated complex if they have proper notes. So, inorder to help you in your studies we have provided the complete notes PDF of chemical kinetics chapter.
Chemical Kinetics Class 12 Chemistry Notes PDF contains all the handwritten notes which includes important questions as well as syllabus based study material. You can download the notes PDF for personal use.
Unit – 3
Chemical Kinetics
Chemical kinetics is the branch of physical chemistry which deals with speed of chemical reaction. The development of chemical kinetics begins when Guldburg and Wagge in 1884 put forward the law regarding the speed of chemical reaction which states that the speed of chemical reaction is proportional to the quantity of the reacting substances.
Chemical kinetics describes the characteristics of chemical reaction such as influence of experimental condition on the rate of chemical reaction and the yield of chemical reaction, mechanism and transition states of reaction, experimental determination of rate of reaction and rate constant, order of reaction etc. which are discussed in this chapter.
Key Objectives
When you have finished studying this unit, you should able to;
- explain rate of reactions and its types.
- know rate law and its expressions and rate constant and its unit.
- describe order and molecularity.
- explain integrated rate equation for zero and first order reaction.
- calculate half-life of zero and first order reactions.
- describe collision theory, activation energy and activated complex.
- explain factors affecting rate of reactions.
- describe catalysis and types of catalysis.
