Magnetic Field Class 12

Magnetic Field falls under Electricity and Magnetism portion of class 12 physics. Magnetic Field Class 12 Physics Notes are designed according to the updated syllabus of 2080 and it covers all the important portion of the chapter. Students can easily prepare their notes, study for test or exams by taking the help of class 12 magnetic field Notes.

  Chapter – 16
Magnetic Field

We can consider a magnetic field and magnetic field lines which surround a magnet as the electric field and its lines of force surround a charge. We know that a magnet attracts small pieces of iron (magnetic substance) even when they are a certain distance away from it. Thus like electric force and gravitational force, magnetic force also acts to a distance. The idea of force acting at a ‘distance can be easily understood by introducing the concept of field. We can imagine a magnet as giving rise to a magnetic field which exists in the whole space surrounding it.

  Chapter Overview
In this chapter we are going to learn the following concepts, ideas or topics;

  1. Oersted’s Discovery
  2. Magnetic Force on Moving Charge
  3. Moving Coil Galvanometer
  4. Biot Savart’s Law and Applications

Now let’s move on to the notes of magnetic field. The PDF given below contains all the notes which includes all the topics mentioned in the chapter overview. We request students to use the notes of magnetic field wisely for the purpose of making notes and preparing for the board examination.

You have to scroll down the PDF to view all the notes of Magnetic Field. This PDF contains 25 slides in total which contains all the required notes of magnetic field. It doesn’t contains the numerical problems so if you are searching for the numericals then you’ll find them in the next PDF given below.

Magnetic Field

The space or region around a magnetic (or moving charge or current carrying conductor) where its magnetic influence can be experienced is called magnetic field. It is a vector field that describes the magnetic influence on moving electric charge, current carrying conductor and magnetic materials. The strength of magnetic field at any point in the field is called magnetic field intensity. Magnetic field intensity at a point in a magnetic field can also be defined as the magnetic force experience by a unit north pole when kept at that point. It’s si unit is Tesla (T).

Magnetic Field Class 12 Physics Numerical Questions

Those students who want to practice the numericals from magnetic field chapter can practice the questions given in the PDF below. We have solved the selected numericals which will provide you the method of solving the numericals.

This PDF contains all the important numericals from magnetic field chapter. In addition to the numericals it also contains all the required formulas used for solving the numerical problems of this chapter.

If you are willing to practise more numerical problems for your examination then you can practice the questions listed below.

  • A copper wire 28m long is wound into a flat circular coil 8.0cm in diameter. If the current of 4.50 A flows through the coil, what is the magnetic induction at the centre? [Ans: 7.8×10 ^-3T]
  • Two long parallel conductor carry respectively currents of 12A and 8A in the same direction. If the wires are 10cm apart, find where a third parallel wire also carrying a current must be placed so that the force experienced by it will be zero. [Ans: 0.06 m]
  • An electron of K.E. 10 eV is moving in a circular orbit of radius 11cm, in a plane at right angles to a uniform magnetic field. Determine the value of the flux density. [Ans: 9.7 x 10^-3T]
  • A coil consisting of 100 circular loops with radius 0.60m carries a current of 5 A. At what distance from the center, along the axis, the magnetic field magnitude 1/8 as great as it is at the center? [Ans: 1.04m]
  • A long wire carrying a current of 10 A is placed perpendicular to magnetic field of flux density 5 Tesla. Calculate the force acting on 2m of the wire. [Ans: 100 N]

These questions are provided for practising purposes. So we haven’t provided the solutions of the numerical problems. However, if you are facing problems while solving these numericals then we request you to copy the questions and paste it in Google to get the solutions of that numericals. If that doesn’t work then you can contact us through our telegram channel to get the solutions.
